Ryan Holladay is one half of the music duo BLUEBRAIN, along with his brother, Hays Holladay. In the three years since they began, this Washington DC based duo has become as well known for their innovative approaches to music as they have for the music itself. Last year, they released the world's first location-aware album: an album designed exclusively as an iPhone app that uses the phone's built in GPS capabilities to alter the music as the listener traverses a landscape. The first one, 'The National Mall', was composed and mapped for the park in downtown Washington DC and was followed last Fall by Central Park ('Listen to the Light') for use within the park in Manhattan. A musical "choose-your-own-adventure" that links music to a specific place, their work has been featured in everything from The New York Times to WIRED. The Washington Post called 'The National Mall' the year's most innovative pop release ("like using GPS to navigate a dream.")
