Some Community
    Thursday March 15, 2012 1:00am - 1:40am @ Maggie Mae's (323 E. 6th St.)
Formed in 2009 the Brazilian indie-punk quintet, Some Community, who once called itself a girl group now finds itself with a much stronger lineup. Although the three original ladies, Veronica Vacaro (Keys), Juliana Vacaro (vocals), and Gabriela Gonzalez (guitar), are still stealing the spotlight, they're now accompanied by two strong gentlemen (especially when it comes to carrying their heavy cases). The Korg keyboard of Veronica Vacaro alone weighs 70 lbs, while Juliana Vacaro's lead vocals weigh approximately 1 ton.

Joe Volume is a singer, songwriter and producer from Mexico City.

Volume has played with the most important Latin American acts and has shared the stage with international acts with opening slots for The Black Lips,The Strange Boys and Lewis Floyd Henry amongst others. Joe volume´s act has been compared by Vice Magazine as a "bastard son between The Ramones and Johnny Cash" and his energetic performances have earned him comparisons with artist of such calibre as Iggy Pop and The Clash. Joe Volume is the most important artist to emerge from the "Alicia" underground punk-garage scene in México, often playing all the instruments himself on recordings and playing with one-off line ups assembled with friends for live shows. Joe Volume live is a cathartic and energetic experience. A performance you will be able to catch at this year´s "SXSW". You can download his latest album "The Shameless" on Itunes right now!

After several years of hard work, they released in 2011 "Lo que nadie ve"(What no one sees). In their first LP, they take the long road on composing lyrics in Spanish and involving different instruments in their songs. Tracks like "Feels like Sunday" and "Hasta el final" pretty much describes the whole album sound.

Chronicles of train terrorism, space expeditions, criminal infamy, and monsters under the bed are just a few of the themes you’ll hear on Loquat’s third full-length album, We Could Be Arsonists. Recorded at Fantasy Studios (David Bowie, U2, The Pretenders) in Berkeley, Calif. while singer/guitarist Kylee Swenson Gordon was pregnant with her now 1-year-old son Braxton (with bass player Anthony Gordon), We Could Be Arsonists is Loquat’s strongest stand.

Ritmo Machine
    Friday March 16, 2012 11:00pm - 11:40pm @ Maggie Mae's (323 E. 6th St.)
‘Welcome to the Ritmo Machine’ is the new collaboration between CYPRESS HILL's percussionist Eric Bobo and mix master Latin Bitman. With a funky blend of hip-hop beats, live instrumentation, and guest appearances, Ritmo Machine is a border-crossing culture clash of electronic, hip-hop and Latin music.

Bobo’s funky percussion sounds were first unleashed to the world on the Beastie Boys’ classic albums ‘Check Your Head’ and ‘Ill Communication’. Together as ‘Ritmo Machine’, Bobo and Bitman’s collaboration also features guest appearances from Money Mark & Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), Sen Dog (Cypress Hill), Ana Tijoux, P-Nut (311), Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and Sick Jacken (Psycho Realm).

Chains Of Love
    Saturday March 17, 2012 8:00pm - 8:40pm @ Maggie Mae's (323 E. 6th St.)
Chains of Love started when Guitarist Felix Fung, the engineer and owner of Vancouver’s Little Red Sound, hatched a plan to start a girl group with Nathalia Pizarro. Nathalia was known as one of the best singers and all around performers on the scene, with her voice and the harmonic help of Rebecca Marie Law Gray, Felix knew that they had something truly amazing on their hands. They had what they call a “memory of that girl group sound” and a free studio on Tuesday afternoons, so they started inviting their friends over to see what they could make of this fortuitous combination. What you have in your headphones is what came of these nostalgic happenings, Spector harmonies, Motown bass lines and rich, thumping drums.

Said The Whale
    Saturday March 17, 2012 10:00pm - 10:40pm @ Maggie Mae's (323 E. 6th St.)

In the five years since Said The Whale formed, the band's hook-heavy, pop-rock sound has propelled them to successes that include a nationally televised documentary, a JUNO Award victory, and a seemingly endless series of tours around the globe. In an age of overnight internet sensations, theirs is a true grassroots success story.
With the new wave-tinged single "Heavy Ceiling" already making its mark on the Canadian rock/alternative charts and videos for all 15 album tracks to exclusively debut online, Little Mountain is shaping up to be one of the landmark indie rock albums of 2012. And if the last five years have taught us anything, it's that Said The Whale will continue to win over audiences the old fashioned way: with relentless touring, killer songs, and big-hearted passion.

Slam Dunk
    Saturday March 17, 2012 11:00pm - 11:40pm @ Maggie Mae's (323 E. 6th St.)

In the summer of 2009, a group of five Victoria-based friends set out to form a band that would incorporate everything they adored in a classic pop hook, but invoked with something more cathartic, brash and chaotic. That band would later be known as one of the West Coast's most revered live acts, Slam Dunk. Described as the “E-Street band on Crack”, Slam Dunk's live shows command people to lose their shiiiit to a blend of shout-along choruses and twisting fuzz-guitar melodies. With the help of Vancouver producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, New Pornographers), Slam Dunk were able to capture the energy of their live performances on the recent full-length album, The Shivers.
