Star & Dagger
    Wednesday March 14, 2012 8:00pm - 8:40pm @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
In lieu of cold statistics, nationwide bamboozlement and the usual mind numbing malaise, Sean Yseult (White Zombie), vocalist Von Hesseling, guitarist Donna She Wolf (Cycle Sluts From Hell), guitarist Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal) and drummer Gene Trautmann (Queens of the Stone Age) offer up Star & Dagger: A subwoofer's cauldron forged by functional alcoholism, pharmaceutical voyage and junk drawer hallucinogens, steeped under a heavy contraband haze that hangs low enough to embrace the Almighty Downtrodden so they can revel in it.
The band formed in 2011 during an inspired flurry of recordings in Joshua Tree, resulting in their upcoming release “Tomorrowland Blues.” In the meantime they hightailed it to New Orleans, recording with Sean’s former bandmate J. Yuenger (White Zombie) in his private studio surrounded by swampy cemeteries. This resulted in a 3-song vinyl e.p. recently released by Last Hurrah Records titled “In My Blood”. Between all of this and much decadent hobnobbing, the band has managed to fit in live shows opening for the likes of Helmet, Eagles of Death Metal, and Masters of Reality, playing in LA, New Orleans and Joshua Tree. The music is heavy blues metal topped with the lovely vocal stylings of Von Hesseling, the lovechild of Cherie Currie and Anita Pallenberg.

Pets With Pets
    Wednesday March 14, 2012 10:00pm - 10:40pm @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)

Pets With Pets say.. “Australia is a very ancient land. A wise old man man who on occasion loses control of his bladder, in a purely geological sense. It is an isolated land in the antipodes, when Europeans first came here they discovered all sorts of bizarre creatures and strange sounds coming from the land.. They were often very confused, but intrigued none the less. Nothing has changed in those thousands of years. Pets With Pets hold a true testament to the bizarre and ancient nature of Australia. Conceived in 2006 and slowly evolving throughout the last 6 years. Starting as an ambient solo project by Zayd Thring and slowly crawling out of this sea of tranquility and trying to walk on a very unstable land of unfamiliar rock, adding different instruments and band members like limbs through the years. Pets With Pets have outgrown all of their genre tagging labels such as Kraut-rock and have evolved through a cacophonous cyclone of releases and live shows through the years that has gained them the reputation of having one of the best live shows around today. With constantly changing lineups and sounds, they find themselves as the apex beast they are today, ready to survive the apocalypse and making the soundtrack to it”.

Witchburn
    Thursday March 15, 2012 12:00am - 12:40am @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
    WITCHBURN
Heavy, down tuned, southern fried, whiskey soaked sabbra cadabra. Their live show pulsates with seething and sultry, sweaty energy. Bringing as much groove as brutal thunder, the music is like a hammer straight to your soul, crashing down through the sky... only you welcome its impact the moment they tear into their first song. Spilling their guts on every stage they play, they've opened for Slipknot, Helmet, Crowbar, Saint Vitus, Blue Cheer, Mudvayne, Fu Manchu, 3 Inches of Blood, Trouble, Zeke, Pentagram and Valient Thorr, to name a few. Featuring the soaring, soulful vocal power and prowess of Jamie Nova and the monster riff-crafting of Mischa Kianne on guitar and occasionally violin, along with the unmatched low-end heaviness of Jacy Peckham on bass coupled with the bone-crushing, rock solid groove provided by Dana Sims on drums, Witchburn is the sound of rebellion in the voice of a hate-child conceived during a mythical orgy between Black Sabbath, Janis Joplin, Ronnie James Dio and Heart.

    Thursday March 15, 2012 9:45pm - 10:20pm @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
Self-proclaimed “trash poet” John Wesley Coleman III incorporates indie rock slack with witty storytelling in his music. Hailing from Irving, TX and living much like a drifter in East Austin, Coleman started engaging himself in a variety of creative activities in the mid-2000s: performing with psychedelic five-piece Golden Boys, performing standup comedy, painting, writing books and movie scripts, and recording solo material. New album out on Goner records called "The Last Donkey Show" and another new full length on Monofonus called "Nightmare On Silly Street". Both records made number #1 top lists in eastern europe and hawaii. He is also a nice guy with bad jokes and bad breathe.

Outer Minds
    Thursday March 15, 2012 11:35pm - 12:10am @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)

Outer Minds have finally come to the surface after simmering in the underworld in several different incarnations over the past few years, and with unbelievably great results. Sharpening their sound into a legion of 60s pop/psych textures and nuances normally reserved for the baroque set with their impeccable glockenspiel-laden arrangements, Outer Minds weave a rich web of sound around impossibly perfect hooks and deliver an impressive EP worthy of your immediate attention. Lead by Zach Medearis (Black Beauties, Lover!) and A-Ron Orlowski’s (Baseball Furies, Lover!, Dirges) fine assemblage of rough-cut harmonies, the band has gone through more name and roster changes than most, but once the current lineup coalesced into the tight-knit unit performing today, everything fell into place to create this sumptuous wall of sound that will blow your little mind to bits. -Todd Novak (hoZac Records)

Dwellers
    Friday March 16, 2012 7:00pm - 7:45pm @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
While not a heavy metal band, Dwellers' music could be categorized as "dark". Therefore the band has shared the stage with blues, rock, folk, and black metal bands alike. Dwellers has a love for raw, visceral emotion. Visions are conjured while in the process of aural creation. The band imposed upon themselves their very own genre - "Gut Rock" - as a way to continually remind themselves never to allow indecision to impede creativity. What we feel is what you get. No edits. Others have described Dwellers as "Southwestern Americana Gothic". This last description is most likely due to the self-recorded, self-released EP, "Peace, and Other Horrors". This EP was released for free on Bandcamp, while the band was simulataneaously busy recording their full-length rock record for Small Stone Recordings, titled "Good Morning Harakiri". "Peace…" contains 4 tracks of swampy, acoustic slide guitar, a leaky bath tub faucet, ethereal howls, and bowed cymbals. One blog reviewer compared the EP to 'latter day Earth, and Dege Legg's swampy ghost songs'. This impromptu EP is merely a path that Dwellers found themselves wandering down. If one attempted to define the band based on this EP alone, one would be surprised by what is discovered in their latest material. "Good Morning Harakiri" continues the journey from "Peace and Other Horrors", but weaves that vibe into the threads of a structured rock record.

Gozu
    Friday March 16, 2012 9:00pm - 9:45pm @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
Gozu first appeared on the scene in 2008 with the the release of their seven track EP. Consisting of members of bands such as Wargasm and Triphammer, Gozu laid down the rock but also brought the groove on songs such as the human-empowerment anthem “Rise Up” and D.A.R.E.-baiting “Meth Cowboy”. Fronted by the man with a plan, Marc Gaffney, aka Gaff, who has the pipes Chris Cornell used to possess before he started modeling men’s cologne, Gozu plays the sort of rock tailor made to be blasted out on radio airwaves nationwide, ala early Queens of the Stone Age. It’s the kind of rock music that pulls up alongside you while you’re walking down the street minding your own business, demands that you “get in the f@*ing car”, proceeds to drive 90 mph down the wrong side of the highway, and then drops you off miles from home at some abandoned rest stop.

Black Pistol Fire
    Sunday March 18, 2012 1:25am - 2:00am @ Headhunters Patio (720 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701)
Black Pistol Fire is a Canadian Rock and Roll duo that split’s time between Toronto, Ontario and Austin, Texas. Their wild and energetic rock-and-roll sound has been described as a mix of classic southern rock and garage punk, garnering comparisons to early Kings of Leon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Black Keys, and Clutch. It's clear that the band's sound spans many different eras and subgenres, relying on a classic rock and roll sound that has been updated for our modern times.ern rock and gara

Black Pistol Fire features Kevin McKeown on Guitar/Lead Vocals and Eric Owen on Drums. The two have been friends since kindergarten and began playing music together when they discovered a shared passion for rock and roll music in high school. The two became founding members of rock and roll trio The Shenanigans. With The Shenanigans, they recorded an LP titled Bombshell Baby. After things with The Shenanigans and Toronto got stale, the two wanted a change of scenery and to try out something new. They then packed up their instruments and a bag of clothes and headed south. The band finally settled down in Austin, Texas in 2009 and Black Pistol Fire was born. The two have been playing together for 11 years, the last 3 of those in Black Pistol Fire.
