Chuckie
    Tuesday March 13, 2012 11:05pm - 11:55pm @ La Zona Rosa (612 W 4th St)
    OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY
Having risen to fame with chart successes such as ‘Let The Bass Kick’ and ‘Aftershock,’ Chuckie’s career has continued to develop thus turning him into a global phenomenon who never fails to win over legions of fans with his upfront approach to making and playing music. Taking dance and urban music by storm in Europe, The United States, and South America and beyond, he is spreading the Chuckie flavour with his explosive beats, surprise FXs and adulated climaxes. Although Amsterdam based, this truly international DJ and producer works tirelessly to fit everything into his hectic schedule whether he’s on a plane or in a hotel room as he travels the globe performing to millions of fans in the world’s best clubs.
Born in South America’s Suriname as Clyde Sergio Narain, Chuckie later moved to The Netherlands where his passion for hip-hop and electronic music grew and eventually manifested itself in his decision to become a DJ and producer. His energetic mixing skills coupled with his ability to effortlessly cross over into various different musical styles and his understanding of how to work a crowd has made Chuckie one of the most in demand DJs in the world. A strong purveyor of Amsterdam’s ‘dirty house’ sound, Chuckie has helped spread the sound of the city to the global dance scene, marking Amsterdam as an important player in this global industry. His own ‘Dirty Dutch’ club concept has evolved over the years from a solid urban event for 6,000 people into a massive house music night for 30,000 people and now even consistently sells out Amsterdam’s RAI stadium in record time.
Chuckie’s touring schedule is as relentless as it is impressive. Playing headline sets at the world’s premier clubs, Chuckie regularly touches down in a different country each day, skipping across the continents to enthral fans at the most famous events in the world. In addition to his residency for the large-scale Sensation events in Europe, Chuckie also holds three residencies in the USA where he travels to each and every month to play LAVO in New York, Marquee in Las Vegas and LIV in Miami. The ‘Mix King’ is also a regular at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, SxSW in Texas, Fuji Rock in Japan, Creamfields in Australia, Electric Zoo and EDC not to mention his countless other gigs he plays around the globe in cities such as London, Buenos Aires, Belgrade, Montreal and Stockholm.
Chuckie also brings the raucous to the White Isle each summer as the world’s electronic music fans flock to the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza. Summer 2011 has seen Chuckie become the new resident for Eric Morillo’s esteemed Subliminal nights at Pacha. Playing five dates across the season, Chuckie has been accepted into the Subliminal family with whom he will collaborate at the Subliminal – Dirty Dutch Invasion Pacha Parties and Café Mambo. During Wednesday’s his record label Dirty Dutch Records brings the heat to Blue Marlin at Cala Jondal for the conoscenti of the island to come and enjoy the sunshine and beats provided by himself and his label cohorts.
After winning MOBO awards in both 2004 and 2005, Chuckie has proven to be a prolific hit maker in the studio too with a steady back catalogue of highly successful singles and remixes ever since. 2009’s ‘Let The Bass Kick’ became the anthem of that summer and eventually went on to reach no.9 in the UK singles chart, catapulting him into the global consciousness. Since then tracks like ‘Aftershock’ and ‘Move it2 The Drum’ with Hardwell have continued to enhance the reputation of this enthusiastic and dedicated producer. A constantly requested remixer, Chuckie has reworked the likes of David Guetta and Bob Sinclair before adding official remixes for P Diddy’s Dirty Diddy Money and Michael Jackson to his resume. Indeed Chuckie was the only person asked to do the official remix for the King Of Pop’s ‘Hollywood Tonight’ in March 2011, a dream come true for the charismatic Dutchman. For his latest remixes, Chuckie has brought his no nonsense approach to The Saturday’s ‘ Notorious’ and Eric Morillo’s ‘Stronger.’
Having landed a multi album artist deal with Atlantic Records in the USA, Chuckie has spent the latter part of 2010 and on into 2011 working on his own material in the studio alongside megastars such as of TPain, Tinie Tempah, Kesha, Alexis Jordan, P Diddy, 50 Cent, Lil Jon, and Akon.
If all of this was not enough, 2011 has also seen Chuckie join the BBC Radio 1 team to present his ‘In New DJs We Trust’ show. Aired every month, Chuckie gets to spins to a huge world-wide audience and show off his undoubted talent behind the decks which has also seen him receive the coveted TMF “Best Dance DJ” award where he beat off competition from the likes of Dutch heavyweights Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. As his stock continues to rise and rise, it seems the era of Chuckie domination is only just beginning!!

Comic Strips
    Wednesday March 14, 2012 8:45pm - 9:50pm @ The Madison (307-A W 5th St)

Tom Holroyd also known as Comic Strips is an Electro House producer hailing from Pittsburgh, PA. Debuting at the young age of 18, now at the age of 19, is currently making a mark on the dance music community. Known for his distinct, edgy, and complex sound, he has the tendency to combine elements of heavy Electro House with anything from delicate chord progressions, intricate melodies, and of course, Monstrous bass lines. Taking the listener on a thrill ride filled with ambitious breakdowns and intense build-ups that ensue crushing anticipation. Such a sound has caught the eyes of blogs, labels, DJ’s and fans from LA to Hong Kong. Comic Strips tunes have been supported by the likes of Steve Aoki, Spencer & Hill, Cold Blank, Lucky Date and Far Too Loud. His first EP, “That's My Sh!!” released by Rot10 Musik received instant attention internationally; Earmilk.com claimed Comic Strips to be their “Breakout artist of the year.” Following “That's My Sh!!” artists from all over the world have sought Comic Strips out for his unique ways to remix tunes. These artists include, Vengeance, Subvader, Microprophet and many others. In a short time, Holroyd’s musical styling’s have been featured on over ten releases on Beatport in just five months. Recently, his Remix of Skrillex’s “Ruffneck Bass” Jumped into the Top 10 Hypem Chart in just three days after being posted by Tiltmag.com, neck & neck with the likes of Avicii, Knife Party, & Diplo.
Tom’s two latest releases received a warm response on Beatport, with “Party Zone” released by Bazooka Records, Home to Zedd, Spencer & Hill and Porter Robinson, jumping up to the number 9 spot on Beatport’s Top 100 Releases, and “Dark Movies” released by LA based DJ Duo, Cold Blanks record label, Burn The Fire Records, Both songs gracing the Top 100 Electro House single chart at the number 50 spot. Outside of Beatport, The blogosphere praised both releases even higher than his first, debut EP. It seems the second Tom drops a new tune; blogs eat it up instantaneously and give nothing but high praise. Check out what the Untz.com has to say about his latest remix of Gotye’s Somebody I used to Know “Tom does a great job at creating his own feel to the music, while still keeping a large portion of the vocals to help convey the incredible emotion the song contains. The cut kicks in the emphatic vocals immediately to snag the listeners attention from the very start. He mixes them with melodic synths and incredibly captivating snare drums, and they combine to make an emotive exciting build up. The drop displays some of Tom’s most impressive and ample wobbles of any of his cuts, and does a great job of bridging the verses together with chopped up vocals that mix up the phrase, “Now you’re just somebody that I used to know.” After the drop climaxes, we get a taste of Kimbra’s beautiful and touching vocals that add so much to this song. This remix does an incredible job at making her voice sound even more passionate by matching it with a slow synth buildup that perfectly compliments it.
Overall, this Comic Strip remix is a gem. At around 5:30 minutes long, it keeps the listener entranced with all the components of a good remix. He’s received over 2,000 plays on his Soundcloud in the first 2 days, and his fans are thoroughly satisfied”
November of 2011 marked a pivotal point in Holroyd’s career, he completed his first tour ever 10,000 miles away in Australia. The 4-show tour was successful to say the least with pulling 500+ people into packed clubs in Sydney and Perth. In the mean time, he has been popping up on some massive shows, sharing the stage with legendary names like MSTRKRFT, Rusko, Wolfgang Gartner, Pretty Lights, Excision, Designer Drugs, Bass Jackers, Le Castle Vania, Lucky Date & others. Comic Strips has been sought out quite aggressively due to his unparalleled energy & his captivating ability to interact with the crowd.
Holroyd’s deep passion & dedication for music will continue to drive him to the forefront of the Electronic Dance Music world. Expect only great things to come.

Cassian
    Wednesday March 14, 2012 9:40pm - 10:20pm @ Empire Automotive ( 604—606 E 7th St, Austin TX)
In 2011 Cassian became one of Australia's busiest exports, clocking up some serious miles and gaining invaluable experience performing all over the world in clubs from LA to Rome, Warsaw to Mallorca & Vancouver to Singapore. Or as he would put it "Yews all over the world". Australia definitely didn't miss out on the fun, with a 16 date tour down under for the launch of the 2nd Cassian EP "I Like What You're Doing" and dj sets at the biggest festivals in the country: Splendour in the Grass, Stereosonic, Creamfields and The Big Day Out in early 2012.
The title track from the EP is still receiving weekly spins on Australian national radio station Triple J nearly a year after it's release & "Getting High" (also on the EP) has been the no.1 track on Bang Gang 12s Beatport page since release. In 2011 Cassian completed a slew of well received remixes for artists such as PNAU, The Rapture, Bag Raiders, Gigamesh, Citizens! & Miami Horror (who he collaborated with for a joint remix). The first half of 2012 will see the launch of the much talked about "Country Club" collaboration with fellow Aussie youngster Shazam (their first remix has already received support from the likes of A-Trak & Yolanda Be Cool). With the help of dance music, they aim to spread the good word of grass sport participation and dining etiquette far & wide in 2012. Their debut 4 track EP was hastily signed to Jaymo & Andy George's imprint Moda, slated for release in May it's set to be followed by multiple original releases throughout the year.
2012 will see Cassian continue giving out global high fives with dates through North America (including a 3 date mini tour supporting Aeroplane and performances at SXSW & WMC), Australia, Asia and Europe all in the pipeline for the first half of the year. Kissy Sell Out
    Wednesday March 14, 2012 10:00pm - 11:00pm @ The Parish (214 E Sixth St Austin, TX)
Whether Kissy Sell Out is DJing to a packed out crowd, mixing avant garde new sounds on his weekly Radio One radio show, producing his own material or remixing for others, the results are always the same: Exhilarating. In the talent rich genre of electro, one name has always stood out as more forward thinking than the rest. Colchester-native Kissy Sell Out first exploded on to the scene with a series of technically ambitious remixes in 2006. His rework of Mark Ronson’s take on The Smith’s ‘Stop Me’, gained him particular kudos and was included in numerous compilations. It was enough to bring him to the attention of radio bosses, who offered the twenty-something design student a weekly slot on Radio One. Now over one hundred shows in, he has used it as an opportunity to showcase his own technical abilities, presenting a new Kissy Klub mix each week, a section of the show made entirely of his exclusive remixes made especially for that week. Along with his fresh attitude to mixing records, his amiable persona continues to draw thousands upon thousands of new listeners to his late night slot week on week. Fans not only want to hear what at Kissy has made, but also what he has found; he is a champion of new talent, and regularly plays tracks sent to him by bedroom producers along with tracks from more established artists and record labels.

    Thursday March 15, 2012 10:00pm - 10:40pm @ Sony Club @ Red 7 (611 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701)

Captivating bedroom pop with a karaoke video/soft haze filter on it that collapses the textural dimensions of music to an appealing, shiny finish. The music of Part Time owes a debt to ‘80s movie scores, neon lights, fog machines and nightlife, a generous sampling of New Romance in a post-capitalist world, its heart going out to everyone who hasn’t abandoned their silk shirts in favor of more practical attire. The home studio shell and canned dynamics of Part Time quickly dissolve to reveal some serious jammers in the midst, the image of a man pouring his heart out into the psychotropic fronds of the lounge at the Venusian Holiday Inn. Pour yourself a yard of liquid acid and float along.

Peaking Lights
    Thursday March 15, 2012 11:00pm - 11:40pm @ Sony Club @ Red 7 (611 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701)

Peaking Lights, the husband and wife duo of Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis have channeled a rich background of a lives dedicated to music, touring, and pushing artistic broundries into a band that reflects their relationship; a sum that transcends its parts. Finding themselves in a cross country move from the Bay Area to a house built into a barn in rural Wisconsin, Peaking Lights sound origin was created with humility and love with a personal touch directed by Aaron’s home built synths, effects units, and rhythm machines. Peaking Lights have maintained a sound distinction all of their own fusing influences as wide ranging as afro beat, disco, psychedelic rock, synth pop, krautrock, reggae and noise into songs that are as smooth, lush and elegant as they are propulsive, rhythmic and noisy. Recordings were initially showcased on Night-People Records cassette releases along with their debut full length 2009′s Imaginary Falcons which brought the band into full view of the underground music community. Imaginary Falcons quickly gained critical praise for its distinct qualities as a lo-fi masterpiece fusing analog electronics with blown out psych guitar flourishes, while Indra’s warm drifting vocals provided an unexpected serenity to the music. Finding a sound related to but not fully in debt to Jamaican dub pioneers Peaking Lights continued writing and recording and in 2010 went into Flat Black Studio’s to record 936 a recording that reached Peaking Lights full capabilities aesthetically merging dub and dance influences more fully into their sonic pallet already rich in electronic exploration. 936 retains many of Peaking Lights lo-fi electronic techniques but boosts the overall depth of sound to create a record that is lush in its use of analog delay, deep bass, rhythmic creation, and stunning yet simple vocal beauty. 936 was released on Not Not Fun Records in 2011 garnering even more critical praise for Peaking Lights. Currently Peaking Lights finds themselves tending to their new born son Mikko and planning for future recordings and tours. -Shawn Reed, Night-People Records

    Saturday March 17, 2012 10:45pm - 11:25pm @ Sony Club @ Red 7 (611 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701)

Beat Connection’s members – the duo of Jordan Koplowitz and Reed Juenger – met in summer 2008, in that first youthful flush of “hey wait, I don’t live with my parents anymore...” and began making some late-summer-appropriate house beats in Garageband. Studying avant-garde composition and working at a local radio station, Juenger realised that melody, verses and choruses exist in pop music for a reason: high-brow-experimental-self-referential-sound- sculpture was no way to get the ladies. Years passed, and they moved on from Garageband, started DJ-ing; things went full circle, their tastes changed, they started writing more music, paid some bills with DJ fees and bought some better equipment. By the summer of 2010, aided by friends and lovers, including featured vocalist Tom Eddy, Koplowitz and Juenger were sweating it out in an attic studio, walls coated in soundproofing lifted from a college radio station. Tracks were refined and polished, friends were dragged in to listen over and over again to tiny segments of music that wouldn’t make the cut. They had a few epiphanies: realising that the flow of an album really enhances each song, they applied the knowledge they had gleaned from the dancefloor. They borrowed some nostalgia. During this time, ‘Surf Noir’ transformed from a labour of love into an essential soundtrack reflecting the anticipation for the summer months when everyone cuts loose.

Reid Speed
    Sunday March 18, 2012 12:40am - 1:40am @ Republic Live (301 W. 5th Street)
Reid Speed has been a dancefloor destroyer for over a decade and is recognized worldwide for her skillful ability to throw down all genres of bass music in transcendental manner. She is currently most known for helming the Play Me Records and Play Me Too brands. 2011 saw her produce and co-headline the US portion of the groundbreaking Play Me Records Bass Monster Tour with FS & Cyberoptics, which was sponsored by leading EDM retailer Beatport. The tour spawned a #2 charting hit of the same name ("Bass Monster") by Reid & FS as well as their "Pussy Weed Money" Remix of "Die Famous" for Burn the Fire which also clocked in at #2. The success of the US portion of the tour has resulted in an upcoming Play Me Bass Monster Europe Tour, which will lead the brand and Speed to Europe in 2012 with Dubsidia, The Unik and Tha Trickaz. In just over 2 years, Play Me Records and Play Me Too have indisputably taken the Beatport charts by storm, with a string of #1 hits and top 10s, with nearly every release charting in the top 100. They have broken more new artists than any other label of its kind, helping to launch the careers of artists like Cyberoptics, FS, J. Rabbit, Run DMT, Twist, Figure, and Bare, to name just a few. 2010 saw Play Me Records voted Dubstep Label of the Year by Beatport and Symphonic Distribution.
Since 2001 Reid has released a consistent stream of well received mix compilations and a slew of well charting original and group productions and remixes of many genres: drum & bass, 2 step, breaks, fidget house, electro, dubstep and even moombahcore. Those who love her label, have listened to her mixes or seen her live agree, whether controlling the floor, in the studio, or behind the decks, Reid pushes the music forward every step she takes.
